Each year, thousands of kilos of British wool are spun and with every spin, a small amount of perfectly good fibre is left behind. Normally, this excess would be discarded as ‘waste’. But instead of being thrown away, it’s given a second chance.
After each clean-down of the spinning frames, the leftover fibre is carefully gathered and sent to a local production partner. There, it’s carded, combed and transformed back into tops before returning to the mill to be spun into yarn once again.
The yarn is then dyed locally and brought back for finishing, balling and packing. Every stage of this journey happens within a 10-mile radius, keeping the process close to home and reducing its environmental impact.
Sustainability sits at the heart of the entire process turning what was once considered waste into something beautiful and usable again.
